C-TPAT-Validated

C-TPAT, or Customs Trade partnership against Terrorism is a voluntary government initiative to build cooperative relationships that will strengthen and improve overall international supply chain and U.S. border security.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection recognized that the way to provide the highest level of cargo security is through close cooperation with the international supply chain such as carriers, importers, customs brokers and manufacturers

Enhanced benefits of using a C-TPAT certified carrier:

  • Quicker movement of goods through customs
  • Improved security levels
  • Enhanced reputation for your organization
  • Lower examination rates of your shipments
  • Partnership between the CBP and Private Industry
  • Increased awareness of customs compliance issues

FAST EXPRESS

The FAST program is a bilateral initiative between the United States and Canada designed to ensure security and safety while enhancing the economic prosperity of both countries.

FAST is a harmonized clearance process for known low risk shipments. Thus, any truck using FAST land processing must be a C-TPAT approved carrier, carrying qualifying goods from a U.S. C-TPAT approved importer, and the driver in the possession of a valid FAST Commercial Driver Card.

Enhanced Benefits of using a FAST approved Carrier:

  • Dedicated lanes (where available) for greater speed and efficiency in the clearance of FAST transborder shipments
  • Reduced number of examinations for continued compliance with Customs FAST requirements
  • Enhanced supply chain security and safety while protecting the economic prosperity of both countries

Partners In Protection

Partners in Protection (PIP) is designed to enlist the cooperation of private industry in efforts to enhance border security, combat organized crime and terrorism, increase awareness of customs compliance issues, and help detect and prevent contraband smuggling.

Enhanced Benefits of the Partners in Protection program:

  • Enhanced and improved security levels
  • Quicker movement of low-risk travelers and goods through customs
  • Improved understanding of Canada customs requirements
  • Better communications between the CBSA and your organization

Customs Self Assessment Program

As part of the Customs Action Plan, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) introduced the Customs Self Assessment (CSA) program, a progressive trade option for clients who invest in compliance.

The CSA program also gives approved importers, approved carriers, and registered drivers the benefits of a streamlined clearance option for CSA eligible goods. The streamlined clearance process ends the need for transactional transmissions of data related to eligible goods. This allows for the clearance of goods based on the identification of the approved importer, approved carrier, and registered driver.

Enhanced benefits of using a CSA approved carrier:

  • Ends the transactional transmissions of data elements
  • Ends the need for artificial customs systems
  • Increases the certainty of expedited customs processing
  • Makes it easier for clients to meet their obligations
  • Streamlines legitimate trade
  • Reduces private sector costs
